ADVISORY BOARD

JOHN WATERS (USA)
John Waters is a writer and a passionate, non-conformist filmmaker. Heavily influenced by the films of Paul Morrisey, Andy Warhol and the Kuchar Brothers in his teens, he made his first feature (MONDO TRASHO) in 1969 and was through the 70’s America’s most original and obsessed underground filmmaker, directing movies like MULTIPLE MANIACS, PINK FLAMINGOS, FEMALE TROUBLE and DESPERATE LIVING. Although his later increasingly mainstream pictures exhibited a more measured pace and glossier production values, the “shock value” that was purely Waters, continued to inform his work.

ANDREW KÔTTING (UK)
Andrew Kötting is one of the UK’s most intriguing artists, and perhaps the only contemporary film maker who could be said to have taken the spirit of visionary curiosity and hybrid creativity exemplified by the late Derek Jarman, he is also a great collaborator, building a community of shared interest around his various projects. In addition to numerous videos, art installations and publications, he has directed two feature films, GALLIVANT in 1996 and THIS FILTHY EARTH in 2001. He is currently busy on a third feature being shot in France.

CHRISTIAN BRAAD THOMSEN (DK)
Graduated from the newly established Danish film school in 1969 and went on to a multifaceted career as a filmmaker, author, critic, film festival leader and distributor. In his lectures and written works his outspoken opinions often put him at the heart of many debates involving Danish cinema and society - and at odds with many of the other established figures in the Danish film world. As an author he has been particularly prolific, writing on many aspects of film. His book on Rainer Werner Fassbinder is considered a landmark work. As an independent distributor he has imported a number of key films to Denmark which Danish audiences otherwise would not have gotten the opportunity to see outside festival play.

JAKOB HØGEL (DK)
Jakob Høgel is the Artistic Director of The New Danish Screen, at the Danish Film Institute.  He has worked as a film consultant and producer, mainly documentary. He is a visual anthropologist, commissioning editor and director. He was head, co-owner and producer at Cosmo Doc, where he stood for some of the latest most significant documentary films, such as Anders Østergaards ”Gasolin”, Christoffer Guldbrandsens ”The secret war”, S. Aaberg Kærn and M. Bejmars ”Smiling in a War Zone”.
